Quantum science and technology is contemporary subject. It is also promising to be evergreen. Let me congratulate you taking leadership in contemporary subjects as these. I am delighted that you are having a leadership role. I would have come but for the pandemic. I am sure that the participants will enjoy the occasion.

About the Event

Quantum Information and Quantum Technology - 2022 (QIQT -2022) is the third in the series of workshops conducted in the summer months at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata (IISER-K). It intends to bring together the leading experts in the field face to face with the students and young researchers in this exciting field of research. The experts include Physicists, Chemists, Mathematicians, Computer Scientists, and Engineers.

Each year a focus area is identified, keeping the international trend in mind, QIQT -2022 intends to focus on Quantum Optics and Quantum Information.

It starts with a workshop on "Quantum optics" followed by a "Researchers' Meet" highlighting the works of young researchers of India in the broad domain of Quantum Optics, Quantum Information, and Quantum Computation.

The QIQT 2022 will complete its journey with a four-day special workshop on Quantum optics highlighting the recent developments in the area of quantum sensing and quantum communications.

Quantum information processing is going to revolutionize the future. It is not just quantum key distribution and quantum computing but we are looking at developing novel materials and their applications. In addition to the new quantum materials, interaction between light and matter to reach regimes in which even the vaccum states are modified and contribute to new states. Considerable amount of research resources are being dedicated to these areas world over. With the Indian government's push to be a leader in quantum technologies, India has the potential to be a world leader. For this, we have to sincerely focus on the deliverables. There are collaborative opportunities to realize, single photon sources, random number generators, quantum gates, different high fidelity qubits, error correction codes, on-chip implementations, among others. QIQT has established itself as a platform to initiate and train young students, and for experts to exchange ideas. Wish this edition of QIQT will help further the research in the area of quantum information processing.
